| Hilary Duff goes to an afternoon pilates class and then goes for a coffee run before finishing her day with a little pampering at a nail salon in Los Angeles on Wednesday (May 27). The 21-year-old singer/actress is the “Blessings in a Backpack” and will serve as grand marshal of the NASCAR nationwide series “Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz.” The race is set for June 13 at the Speedway.     |

| Myriad Pictures is coming aboard Chris Keyser's directorial debut, "A Great Education," with company president and CEO Kirk D'Amico producing alongside Laurence Mark. Ben Kingsley and singer-actress Hilary Duff are attached to star. Keyser's script centers on a young man who is accepted to Harvard on scholarship and ends up joining elite singing group the Krokodiloes. Captivated by their fast-moving world of parties, social engagements, private clubs and air of entitlement, he falls for society girl Liza (Duff), and his studies begin to suffer despite warnings from his professor (Kingsley). Harvard grad Keyser is best known for the TV series "Party of Five." Mark earned an Oscar nomination in 1997 for "Jerry Maguire" and also produced "Dreamgirls" and this year's Oscar ceremony. D'Amico said Keyser's script is full of complex characters and that he is looking forward to the film will go into production in October in Canada. |

 Hilary Duff talked this week with NYLON magazine about her charity work, her Femme for DKNY line, and her role in The Story of Bonnie and Clyde.Hilary first starts out talking about charity and how our generation needs to step up and do more volunteer work. That said, Hilary won’t “shake her finger” at anyone, since life is stressful as a young person, but says: “We do a really good job of having sob stories for ourselves, when there’s a lot more need out there and a lot more people who have it harder than we do. Doing really simple things can actually be fun and be so rewarding.” Hilary Duff talks briefly about what’ll be on her iPod for the AIDS Walk this weekend, then goes on to talk about her Femme for DKNY fashion line: “We did two pairs of jeans this seasonit’s kind of a selfish line, because it’s skinny jeans, which look the best on me. One thing I wanted was multiple-size belt loops, because sometimes I want to wear a skinny little belt wrapped around a million times, or sometimes I want to wear a really fat one that won’t ever stay in place, slung low.  Like many Southern Gothic heroines, Hilary Duff’s character, Raven Halfacre, in “Provinces of Night” is described as “precocious,” mature beyond her years. But during her 10 days filming in the area, Duff was having fun getting back to her own childhood. The Texas native enjoyed working in rural Pender County where the weather was just as nice as the people. And she even learned, a little bit, how to roller skate. The actress plays the daughter of a promiscuous alcoholic (Sheila Kelley) who has difficulty expressing love for her child. Raven herself is no angel either and soon embarks in a relationship with a kindred soul, Fleming Bloodworth (Reece Daniel Thompson). Fleming has his own family problems to deal with, and together, they learn about love, family and themselves. The Star-News caught up with Duff in Atkinson during her final day of filming. After a short scene with Kelley, she sat outside under a shade tree to discuss the film and her thoughts on the Wilmington area. “Provinces of Night” continues filming through mid May. Read more... |

She is considerably lower than previous years, in 2008 she hit a top spot at #8, but she’s still in the top 100, so that's all that matters! Hilary Duff, premiered her latest movie, "Stay Cool", at the Tribeca Film Festival Wednesday night. "I play Shasta O'Neil, who is a normal high school student who is graduating," explained Duff. "[Actor] Mark Polish and I meet because he is coming back to his hometown for the first time in a very long time and giving a speech to the school that he went to, which is the high school I'm graduating from, and I'm kind of just a major flirt and trying to get him to go to the prom with me and shock the rest of my school. So, it it is an interesting story." Duff said she was thrilled to have her film play at Tribeca. "It's exciting. I don't have any word to describe it," she said. "The first movie I was here with was 'War Inc.' To get to come back a second time is always exciting. It's one of those memories I'm always going to keep with me." Read more... |
